In that category eDialogue were the pionners in that field many years ago. Back then I worked on the foundations of the French speaking team that would launch eDialogue French section.

Some guidelines had to be establish to facilitate the work of the da’ees involved in the dialogues with the non muslims in priority and muslims in some cases.

A common database of questions and answers was created for the da’ees to work with.

Some of the requirements needed for the Da’ees to work were as follows:

  • Knowledge of the language.
  • Knowledge of the culture.
  • Knowledge of the religions practiced by the invitees.
  • And in depth discussion about the does and don’t do of dialogue.
  • To let the invitee speak until he or she is done talking or writing.
  • To never show disrespect or moke their belief.
  • For the Dahis to focus on asking intelligent questions instead of making statements.
  • To remind ourselves that the invitee if we point him or her towards the correct questions he or she will find the answers.
  • The Da’ee needs to not forget that it is Allah who Guides people to Islam.
  • The role of the Da’ee is to invite to the truth to give pointers towards the correct answers to the universal questions mankind asks.
  • The Da’ee should always be aware that the invitee was gifted like us with “ Fitra “

Direct dialogue to invite to Islam needs special training and needs to be entrusted to people who have a good understanding and knowledge of the language used and the cultural background concerning that person and environment.

It is also imperative to remind the Da’ee (an inviter to Islam) that we are not in a contest to win debates because if we enter in any discussion with non-Muslims to win the debate we have strayed away from our purpose.
